8/25/2026 We are Growing in ChristHello, Bridge family. I hope you're doing well this week. This week, we learned that Jesus taught his disciples that He is like a vine and that they (and we) are like branches; to grow, we must remain attached to the vine. One thing I think is great about this message is that it gives parents a way to connect with their kids. Although we have finished growing physically, we never stop growing in Christ. Although we are discipling our families, we can often find ourselves being discipled by them. As a family, we can learn together that growing doesn’t mean trying harder to be good or always doing the right thing; it’s about staying connected to Jesus.
This is why we encourage you to spend time with your kids, talking about what they learned on Sunday, and to take a few minutes during the week as a family to do the DigIN@Home. Teaching children’s ministry for more than thirty years has taught me a lot about God, and many times I have learned something from the kids I was teaching. It’s humbling, I know, but it’s great when a kid asks me something that stumps me. We have to suck it up and say I don’t know. Trust me, you can’t talk your way out of it, so don’t bother. Find the answer. Either do it together or look it up and come back and share what you have learned. If they are older, get them to look it up and teach you what they have learned (but be sure you know the answer as well). Learn together, grow together. My point here is this: we tend to place a lot of demands on ourselves, and those demands don’t always work out as we plan. You may have times when you and your family set aside time together with God, and that is wonderful. But many of us probably do not, for a multitude of reasons, and still want to connect with our kids about Christ. What I am suggesting is to start small. Begin by picking up the DigIN@Home, doing some or all of it, or talking to your kids about Sunday and asking what they think the Bible point means to them. Remember what Jesus said about the mustard seed. If you’re not sure, look it up J and share it with your kids. Remember, as long as your child is at home, you have a wonderful opportunity to share the Bible. Together, explore its stories, discuss how they relate to daily life, and encourage deeper family conversations. This makes faith an exciting and meaningful journey. God bless. I look forward to seeing your family on Sunday. Pastor Bob Comments are closed.
